Saffiatou Joof was born to Sulayman Joof and Fatou Cham. She attended Deeper Life Primary & Upper Basic School, proceeded to Gambia Senior Secondary School in Banjul, where she graduated as a science student and got enrolled at the American International University West Africa, in which she is currently studying computer science. Joof is a poet, who started writing at an early age. She has been known for her determination and dedication as a poet to take poetry to another level. In 2014, she was among the team that represented Gambia in the 55th Olympic Mathematics Competition in South Africa and published her first poem about Africa in 2015 that gained her strength in poetry.
